Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound without catalyst activity reduced by repeated reaction-regeneration in high yield economically by using a specific zeolite catalyst in the gas-phase condensation reaction of an aliphatic aldehyde and/or a ketone with ammonia.

CONSTITUTION: The gas-phase reaction between an aliphatic aldehyde such as formaldehyde and/or an aliphatic ketone such as acetone and ammonia is conducted usually in air, or in nitrogen or carbon dioxide at 350 to 800°C in the presence of a catalyst which is made of a zeolite containing at least a platinum element wherein the zeolite has about 12 to about 1,000, preferably about 15 to 500 ratio of Si to the elements of Al, B, Fe and/or Ca and about 0.8 to about 12 control index.
