Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a rare-earth magnet in which the melt of a modified alloy powder can be diffused, without causing oxidization reaction or hydroxylation reaction, even when the modified alloy powder is used for enhancing the coercive force.SOLUTION: A method of producing a rare-earth magnet comprises: a step of producing a molding S by performing hot press working by using the main phase MP(RE:at least one kind of Nd, Pr, Y) of RE-T-B system, and magnetic powder consisting of a grain boundary phase BP around the main phase MP, and then producing a rare-earth magnet precursor C by performing hot plasticity processing of the molding S; and a step of producing a rear-earth magnet by bringing the modified alloy powder composed of an RE-M alloy (M:a metal element not containing heavy rare-earth element), and having an average grain size of 30 μm or more into contact with the surface of the rare-earth magnet precursor C, and diffusing the melt of modified alloy powder into the rare-earth magnet precursor C by heating.
