To provide a method for producing a sulfonated substance, with which the multi-product production of a sulfonated substance having an excellent color tone can simultaneously be carried out at a low cost, and to provide a method for producing a surfactant, using the sulfonated substance.
In this method for producing the sulfonated substance, when gas containing SO3 gas is branched from an SO3 gas generation system through a branching route and introduced into a sulfonation reactor, the pressure difference (pressure before the branching-pressure under which the gas is introduced into the sulfonation reactor) of the gas containing SO3 gas between pressure before the branching and pressure under which the gas is introduced into the sulfonation reactor is 0.005-0.04 MPa.
