To provide a method for producing a surface-modified rubber by imparting the surface of a discarded cured rubber with adhesivity so s to enable the discarded cured rubber to be reused in wide applications while maintaining an inexpensiveness inherent in discarded cured rubber material, and to provide elastic molded products, compounds for tire, paving materials and pavements each using the surface-modified rubber.

This method for producing a surface-modified rubber comprises a process of making surface treatment of a discarded cured rubber with a radical generator at such a temperature as to be ≥20°C lower than the temperature at which the half-life of the radical generator comes to one minute.
