To provide a high-purity uniform precursor composition and a method for production thereof, and to provide a method for producing an SnTiO4-based oxide dielectric substance which can inexpensively be generated by heat-treating the composition at low temperatures, has high relative dielectric constant r and a high value of quality coefficient Qu and is excellent in temperature stability.
The precursor composition comprises a pyrochlore type oxide including Sn and Ti as constituent elements and is represented by the chemical formula, Sn2Ti2O6. The production method for the composition includes mixing the chloride or fluoride of tin and the chloride or alkoxide of titanium in a solvent of aqueous ammonia or potassium hydroxide solution, reacting, drying and then burning. The derivative represented by the chemical formula, SnTiO4 is generated by heat-treating the above precursor composition at a temperature of 800C.
