Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selenium quantitative determination method according to a chemical form capable of further accurately and quantitatively determining Se(VI) by separating, from Se(VI), a selenium with a valence of less than 4 that has been conventionally determined as Se(VI).SOLUTION: The method for quantitatively determining selenium according to a chemical form includes: a first step of calculating a concentration of Se(IV) contained in a sample; a second step of, for the sample, additionally changing all selenium contained in the sample to Se(IV) and calculating a total concentration of all the selenium; a third step of, for the sample, additionally oxidizing the selenium under such conditions as oxidizing the selenium with a valence of less than 4 to Se(IV) but not oxidizing Se(IV) to Se(VI) so as to calculate the total concentration of the selenium with the valence of less than 4; and a fourth step of calculating the concentration of Se(VI) from a difference between the total selenium concentration calculated in the second step and the total concentration of the selenium with the valence of less than 4 calculated in the third step.
