Abstract:
PURPOSE: To form a low-sulfur metal oxide-contg. sludge from an acidic liq. contg. metal ion, sulfate ion and/or sulfite ion.
CONSTITUTION: The liq. is controlled to pH an infinitesimal (0←) to 2.5, and then calcium chloride is added to fix, precipitate and separate the sulfate ion and sulfite ion in the acidic liq. The waste liq. is neutralized to settle and recover the metallic components, and a low-sulfur metal oxide-contg. sludge is obtained. A low-sulfur material useful as the raw material for steel is obtained in this way.
