Abstract:

PURPOSE: To recover super abrasives of high quality at a high recovery rate by adding hydrofluoric acid to the grinding wheel pieces of a vitrified grinding wheel, removing silicon, alkaline metal, alkaline earth metal and the like in a vitrified binder as a fluoride, and washing and drying remaining super abrasives.
CONSTITUTION: After putting the grinding wheel pieces 1... of a plurality of grinding wheel segments in a polyethylene container 2, hydrofluoric acid 3 of 10-100weight% is added to collapse the grinding wheel pieces 1 by chemical reaction of the hydrofluoric acid 3 against the grinding wheel pieces 1. The container 2 is inclined to make supernatant liquid 4 including particulates such as RF (R: alkaline metal) and R'F2 (R': alkaline earth metal and the like) flow out from the container 2 and neutralize it with acid solution before disposing of it. A remaining solid residual material 5 including super abrasivey or the like is moved into a metallic container 6, and water 8 is put in it through a pipe 7 to clean the solid residual material. After cleaning, the solid residual material 5 is heated and dried with a heater 10, and then is classified by classifying equipment 11 for recovery.
