Title:
METHOD FOR REDUCING MOLTEN COPPER OR COPPER ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3203849
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently and quickly remove oxygen in a molten copper-base metal by using a solid reducing agent, blowing inert gas into the molten metal as fine bubbles and floating up CO2 produced by the reaction of the oxygen and the solid reducing agent together with the bubbles.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of reducing the molten copper or the molten copper alloy, the solid reducing agent is used and the inert gas is blown into the molten metal by using a gas blowing nozzle. At this time, shearing force generated by rotating the blowing nozzle is utilized, and the inert gas is blown into the molten metal as fine bubbles. Then the oxygen incorporated as the oxide of Cu2O, etc., is made into CO2 by the reaction with the solid reducing agent and CO2 is floated up together with the inert gas bubbles. Thus, by diffusing and catching CO2 being hardly to discharge on the molten metal surface in the inert gas bubbles, CO2 can quickly be floated up and separated and the reduction can efficiently be progressed.
