Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environmentally friendly method for the refinement of cotton fiber giving little damage on the cotton fiber.
SOLUTION: The method for the refinement of cotton fiber comprises the treatment of a cotton fiber with a treating liquid composed of α-1, 4-glucan glucohydrolase and a surfactant to refine the cotton fiber giving little damage on the fiber while taking consideration of the environment. Since the cotton fiber refined by the method has little damage and, accordingly, it has excellent mechanical strength and water absorption.
