Abstract:

To provide a method for refining crude lead, which greatly shortens an operating period of time compared to a conventional method and saves energy.

This refining method includes: heating and melting the crude lead which has been produced in a blast furnace employing an ISP process and contains copper as impurities, at a heating rate of 0.8 to 1.3C/min; keeping a temperature of the molten metal in a range of 350 to 410C throughout the subsequent step, simultaneously stirring the molten metal with a stirring power of 2.0 to 2.2 kW/m3, and thereby bringing air into contact with the impurities including copper to form dross; and separating and collecting the dross from the molten metal. Thus refined lead has a copper grade of 0.1% or less.
