Title:
METHOD FOR REMOVING DISSOLVED SELENIUM FROM SELENIUMCONTAINING WASTE LIQUID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1025588
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for efficiently, rapidly and cost effectively removing selenium in the form of metal by an electrolysis method from a waste liquid contg. selenium and more particularly hexadic selenium.

This method removes the dissolved selenium from the waste liquid contg. the selenium. In such a case, the waste liquid is adjusted to pH ≤2.5 and is electrolyzed by using a porous electrode material for cathode 1 at 40 to 100°C while passing the waste liquid contg. the selenium through the inside of the cathode electrode, by which the contact area of the liquid and the cathode 1 per unit volume of an electrolytic cell is increased and a sufficient electrolyte reaction is effected. The selenium ions are thereby removed in the form of the metal. In another embodiment, an electrode material having many pores is used for anode 2 and plural pieces of the cathodes 1 and the anode 2 are alternately disposed in the cell. The waste liquid contg. the selenium is then electrolyzed while the liquid is successively passed in the cathode and anode electrodes.
