Abstract:
PURPOSE:To effectively remove nitrogen oxide by bringing nitrogen oxide into contact with carbon fiber and metal where pitch, cellulose, acrylic fiber or the like is used as the carbon fiber and iron, steel, aluminum or the like is used as the metal. CONSTITUTION:Nitrogen oxide is brought into contact with carbon fiber and metal, where pitch, cellulose. acrylic or phenol fiber is used as the carbon fiber and iron, steel. aluminum or the like is used as the metal. A bomb 1 of NO gas having a purity of 99.99% is adapted to pass gas of 1Nm/min through a test tube 3 made of glass, into which a carbon fiber felt 4 is inserted. A steel wire 5 is contained in the felt 4 in such a manner as to be dispersed in contact over the whole surface of the carbon fiber as possible. An inlet passage 2 and the glass tube are heated from 270 deg. to 390 deg. by a heater 6, and a concentration of the NO gas is measured by a gas chromatograph. Consequently, additional use of the metal can decrease a concentration of NO by 15-20% in comparison with the case of only carbon fiber.
