Title:
METHOD FOR SPOT WELDING HAVING EXCELLENT SAFETY AGAINST COLLISION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3911134
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the break of a weld part when a member receives an impulsive force and to enhance the absorption of impulsive energy by deriving an optimum interval of spot welding of a member which absorbs the impulsive energy on the basis of the load imposed on the weld part itself and the strength of the weld part without making a prototype of the member.
SOLUTION: An analysis based on the finite element method of the member is performed by taking the thickness of a metallic plate, the tensile strength of a base material, and the interval of the spot welding as variables, a formula with which an external load imposed on the spot weld part when an impulsive force is applied is defined, the thickness of the metallic plate and the strength of the base material are taken as parameters, thus a formula for giving the peel strength of the weld part is determined by a particular dynamic test called a onebar method high speed tensile test. The interval of the spot welding of two stacked metallic plates is derived on the basis of the two formulae so that the external load given to the spot weld part becomes smaller than the peel strength of the weld part.
