Abstract:
PURPOSE: To completely remove flaws such as pinhole, crack and separation occurring on the surface of a preform for optical fiber during its production.
CONSTITUTION: A preform for optical fiber is immersed in a solution of a metal alkoxide for SiO2, a gel coating film is formed on the surface of the preform for optical fiber, then dried, heated and sealed to make a SiO2 coating film on the surface of the preform for optical fiber.
