Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To presume the arrival direction in two dimensions of a radio wave, and moreover to presume the arrival direction of the radio wave with high precision as compared with the conventional technique without the distinction between a coherent wave and an incoherent wave.
SOLUTION: An equivalent weight matrix made of an equivalent vector indicating weighting with respect to each direction vector of a radiation pattern by each variable reactance element of a rectangular electronic controlled waveguide array antenna system is calibrated, and the characteristic root and characteristic vector of a correlation matrix Ry indicating the correlation among a plurality of reception signals are computed. On the basis of the computed correlation matrix Ry and its characteristic root and characteristic vector, a correlation matrix Rs converted into an element space where interelement linkage is canceled is computed. The characteristic root and characteristic vector of the computed correlation matrix Rs are computed through the use of an eigenvalue decomposition method. The angle of the arrival direction of the radio wave is presumed and computed, by solving a polynomial expression whose root is a parameter corresponding to the one-dimensional or two-dimensional radio wave arrival direction by the use of the MODE method, on the basis of the computed characteristic root and characteristic vector of the correlation matrix Rs.
