Abstract:
To detect and correct eccentric movement and up/down movement of a code wheel in an optical encoder.
In this system and this method for measuring rotational movement of the code wheel, rotational movement of the code wheel including an error component due to its non-rotational movement is measured, and using the measured non-rotational movement of the code wheel, the error component of the measured rotational movement of the code wheel is eliminated, and consequently, a measurement value corrected in error is generated for the rotational movement of the code wheel. When the non-rotational movement of the code wheel exceeds a threshold value, a signal showing necessity of maintenance is generated.
