Title:
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REPRODUCING GRADATION FOR LASER PRINTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3775457
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce an accurate gradation by quantizing the image values for the pixel of an image with an image value scale of a plurality of levels having a maximum image value, correcting the printer value to be approximated to a second space mean and applying a marking medium by a quantity approximately proportional to the printer value.
SOLUTION: A CMYK data generated at a color matching step 510 of a method 500 is processed at a dot gain compensation step 515 and the highlight region and the high/intermediate tone region of an image are light colored before a pixel data is filtered. Following to a font definition step 523, a font set is defined for the cell dimensions defined at a definition step 520. Subsequently, the data is delivered to a multilevel halftoning step 525 to obtain a region having a spatially averaged printer value equal to a spatially averaged scanner value and each component of a corrected CMYK data is mapped to a value within a range suitable for use in a printer engine 540.
