To provide a method of treating a large-sized transformer by which PCB-contaminated equipment, such as the large-sized transformer, etc., can be treated completely.
This method of treating the large-sized transformer includes an isolating step 14 of isolating the large-sized transformer 12 using an organic halide (PCB) 11 as insulating oil from its installed environment by means of an isolating means 13, a liquid extracting step 15 of extracting the organic halide 11 from the inside of the isolated transformer 12, and a dismantling step 16 of dismantling the transformer 12 after the halide 11 is extracted from the transformer 12. This method also includes a separating step 20 for separating organic matters 18, such as paper, wood, resin, etc., and inorganic matters, such as metals, etc., from dismantled components 17 and a hazardous material decomposing and treating step 21 of decomposing and treating the extracted organic halide 11.
