PURPOSE: To automatize a tube installing operation onto a drum in the winding of glass long fibers etc. by forming a thin film on the surface of a wind-up drum to form a tube and carrying out winding onto this tube.

CONSTITUTION: A tube forming device 21 is installed on the side of a wind-up drum. A roll 25 on which a tube forming sheet 24 is wound is rotatably supported in the tube forming device 21 to deliver the sheet 24 by means of rollers 27, 28. The sheet 24 is coated with paste by a pasting roller 42 over an adhesive vessel 35 and drawn out of a take-out port 34 and wound onto the unshown wind-up drum to form a tube layer on the drum. When a defined quantity is delivered, the sheet 24 is cut by a cutter 31. Glass fibers are wound on the drum on which the tube is wound. By this structure, the installation of the tube can be automatized.
