PURPOSE: To smooth roving piecing operation by stopping a bobbin rail so as to provide a constant position of a roving end and simultaneously making the roving winding length and wrapping pitch always constant during the movement of the bobbin rail in a prescribed direction in stopping the winding due to full bobbins.
CONSTITUTION: When the length of a residual roving attains three times of the roving length (r1) for one layer in the n-th layer, the number of lifting and lowering of a bobbin rail to the stop of the bobbin rail and the amount of correction from the prescribed stopping position to the reversing position at the lower end are computed according to the position and moving direction of the bobbin rail at the time. The lifting and lowering changeover of the bobbin rail is controlled so that the reversing position in the same direction as that of the final movement of the bobbin rail may be the same as the normal reversing position and the opposite position on the opposite side may be a position far from the prescribed stopping position by the aforementioned amount of correction.
