Abstract:
To provide a method for diagnosing a lead-acid battery that employs a liquid electrolyte for a standby energy storage application with the goal of predicting the lifetime.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for diagnosing and predicting the life of a lead-based battery, especially a lead-based battery intended to store standby power. The present invention is essentially a new method for diagnosing the lead-based battery and advantageously estimating the remaining life of the lead-acid battery, which is more specifically intended for a standby storage application. This method is based on a combination of a continuous monitoring measurement that integrates the overcharge current (calculation of the overcharge Ah applied to the battery from the time of installation) and a periodic measurement under the DC current of the battery's internal resistance using short-term discharges at constant current or constant power.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
