To provide a method for producing a hydrogenated aromatic compound, by which deactivation of a catalyst or lowering of activity of the catalyst can be suppressed even when using a hydrogen-containing gas containing a poisonous component for a catalyst such as carbon monoxide or a sulfur compound as a hydrogen source of the hydrogenated aromatic compound.
The subject method for producing an organic compound comprises reacting the hydrocarbon-containing gas with steam and carrying out steam modification of the hydrocarbon-containing gas to afford a modified gas composed of CO and/or CO2 and H2 and reacting components in the modified gas. In the production method, H2 controlling step for controlling the content of H2 in a gas by reacting H2 with an aromatic compound is performed, and then, production reaction of the organic compound is carried out, and in the H2 control step, H2 is made to react with the aromatic compound by feeding the liquid aromatic compound to a catalyst so that wetting and drying of the surface of the catalyst kept in heated state are repeated in the presence of H2 to synthesize the hydrogenated aromatic compound.
