This microscope has: a microscope body 2 provided with a female type round dovetail 21 and a first electric contact point 20; and a peripheral unit 3 mounted detachably on the microscope body 2 and provided with a male type round dovetail 31 engaging with the female type round dovetail 21 and a second electric contact point 30 forming a pair with the first electric contact point 20. When the female type round dovetail 21 in the microscope body 2 is engaged with the male type round dovetail 31 in the peripheral unit 3, the peripheral unit 3 is moved into the predetermined direction, and both of the round dovetails 21, 31 are tightened, the contact of the first electric contact point 20 and the second electric contact point 30 is promoted, and the peripheral unit 3 and the microscope body 2 are mutually connected in accordance with the engagement of the male type round dovetail 31 and the female type round dovetail 21.
