Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber having high water-absorbing and moisture-absorbing properties by irradiating a polyamide multifilament yarn having a bulkiness higher than a specific level with electron ray and attaching an aqueous solution of a specific acid to the yarn.

CONSTITUTION: A polyamide multifilament yarn having a bulkiness of ≥10cm3/g (preferably ≥12cm3/g) and containing spaces between the filaments is irradiated with electron ray. An aqueous solution of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid having a concentration of 0.5-15% (preferably 1-10%) is applied to the irradiated yarn and graft-polymerized to obtain the objective polyamide fiber having high water-absorption and moisture absorption in high productivity.
