PURPOSE: The titled composition having improved flow properties and thermal stability, comprising a polyvinyl chloride resin and a specific amount of an olefinic polymer dispersed in the interior of the resin particles.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. particles of porous polyvinyl chloride resin is fully impregnated with 1W40pt.wt. (calculated as polymer), preferably 2W20pts.wt. olefin (e.g., ethylene) and a monomer (e.g., isobutylene) copolymerizable with the olefin, a polymerization initiator (e.g., peroxide) at a temperature wherein polymerization will not proceed substantially, the temperature of the polymerizer is raised so that polymerization is carried out, to give the desired composition.
USE: The blending of 100pts.wt. desired composition and 2W100pts.wt. inorganic type filler (e.g., barium carbonate) provides a modified polyvinyl chloride having great practical value.
