Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a moisture-absorbing polyester resin which is useful for fibers excellent in strength, moisture absorption, antistatic properties and cationic dye-dyeability by reaction of a difunctional carboxylic acid, an alkylene glycol and a specific sulfamic acid or its salt.
CONSTITUTION: This polyester is obtained by reaction of (A) a difunctional carboxyl acid or its ester-forming derivative, (B) an alkylene glycol and (C) a compound of formula I [X1 and X2 are each an organic group bearing an OH group, an organic group bearing a carboxyl group or its ester-forming derivative group and H where they are not H simultaneously; M is H, an alkali or alkaline earth metal, a (quaternary) ammonium, a tertiary amine; a is the ionic valence of M], for example, a compound of formula II (R1 and R2 are each a 2-4C alkylene; Z is Na, K; m, n are each 1-100). In a preferred embodiment, a sulfamic acid or its salt is used as a component (C) in an amount of 20-2,000 equivalents/106g resin.
