Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove impurity at the time of pouring molten metal and to improve the casting quality by providing recessed parts at the upper position adjacent to cavity in the one side of a mold and faced to gate parts and forming projecting parts at a part of joining part of the mold for casting product by the recessed parts.
CONSTITUTION: In the one side of the mold 3, at the upper position adjacent to the cavities 4 and faced to the gate parts 6, recessed parts 7 for removing the impurity at the time of pouring the molten metal are provided. Then, by providing at least one position in these recessed parts 7 above the position faced to the gate part 6, the impurity such as slag in the molten metal poured at first is easily stored in the recessed parts 7 and the slag removal effect is improved. In the case of casting by using this shell mold 1, the molten metal poured in the runner 5 is passed through the runner 5 and poured into the cavities 4 through the gate parts 6, but the slag, etc., in the molten metal is stored in the recessed parts 7 and removed. Further, on the outer peripheral surface in one piece of the product W after casting, projecting parts 8 are formed on the joining surface of the mold by the recessed part 7.
