Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an amorphous copolyamide which is stable to an alcohol and boiling water, is suitable for frames for glasses and the like and can be molded into injection molding, extrudates and other moldings and formed into fibers, films and the like by copolymerizing isophthalic acid with a specified diamine.

CONSTITUTION: Isophthalic acid contg. not more than 50 mol.% terephthalic acid, 20 to 80 mol.% n-decamethylenediamine-1,10, and 20 to 80 mol.% bis(4- aminocyclohexyl)methane are polycondensed to obtain the contemplated polymer pref. having a relative soln. viscosity of 1.4 to 2.1 and a glass transition point of 120 to 180°C.
