To provide a cylindrical ceramic molded body of which the strength is high at a high temperature, and also, which has a high damage tolerance.
This molding device 1 for a half split cylindrical green ceramic molded body comprises a pressing device 2 and a green tape feeding device which feeds a green tape to the pressing device 2. Then, the pressing device is equipped with a lower mold 9, a pair of upper molds 10, and a rubber mold 12. In this case, the lower mold 9 has a semi-spherical recess, and a flat surface section on both sides of the recess. The pair of upper molds 10 are provided on a stamping die 8 in a manner to be able to separate/approach each other in the longitudinal direction. The stamping die 8 is provided vertically movably by a cylinder 7, on the top of the lower mold 9. Also, the pair of the upper molds 10 have flat surface sections 10f, which are confronted with the flat surface sections 9b and 9c of the lower mold 9, at the lower ends. The rubber mold 12 is attached to the upper molds 10, and presses the green tape 40 on the recess 9d of the lower mold 9 by expanding when the inside is pressurized. The green tape feeding device 3 sucks and grips the green tape 40 of a proper size by a vacuum chuck 20, and advances to the top of the lower mold 9 of the pressing device 2. Then, the green tape-feeding device 3 retracts after laying the green tape 40 on the lower mold 9.
