Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molecular beam generation method and a molecular beam generation apparatus that can generate beams of a wide range of type of molecules, especially those of molecules being decomposed by high- temperature heating, or those of neutral molecules that cannot be sublimated even by high-temperature heating at a room temperature, can ionize molecules and clusters contained in the generated neutral molecule beams, and perform mass spectrometry, spectrophotometry, and the like.
SOLUTION: In the method for generating sample molecules in a beam shape by atomizing samples into a low-pressure side space from a small opening, a solution sample is sent to an atomization chamber via the small opening by an atomizing introduction means, and gas is allowed to hit against the misty solution of the sent sample, or a misty solution is heated, thus generating a solute molecule where a solvent molecule is stripped off, and then feeding the solute molecule to a low-pressure side space via the small opening.
