To achieve both continuous melting of molten and energy saving by supplying combustion exhaust gas used at least in a crucible furnace for melting into a preheating tower as an updraft for exchanging heat with ingots, or the like.
Combustion gas fed into a furnace body 4 from the bottom thereof ascends in the circumferential gap 7 while heating a melting crucible 6 and enters through an annular air gap 24 into a preheating tower 1 where the combustion gas exchanges heat with ingots, or the like, before being exhausted from the exhaust opening 29 of an upper end cover 28. On the other hand, combustion gas fed into other furnace body 8 from the bottom thereof ascends in other circumferential gap 11 while heating a holding crucible 10 and enters through an interconnecting part 14 into the circumferential gap 7 where it is combined with previous combustion gas. Since molten is delivered continuously from a melting crucible 2 into a holding crucible 3 and the molten is scooped from the holding crucible 3 side, the preheating tower 1 can be disposed above the melting crucible 2 and the combustion exhaust gas in the melting crucible 2 can be utilized for preheating the preheating tower 1.
