To provide a molten metal-feeding hopper in a gravity casting apparatus where the quantity of the molten metal poured into a casting frame when casting is set to the optimum state, and the defect in a product can be effectively prevented safely and without wasting a raw material.
The side part of a feeding hopper 4 is integrally provided with a reserve tank 6 capable of reserving a fixed volume of molten metal W. In the case the quantity of the molten metal to be tapped from a molten metal feeding furnace 1 is large, and the molten metal W in a set quantity or larger than that is tapped inside the feeding hopper 4, the surplus molten metal W is reserved in the reserve tank 6, and, when the molten metal W is made to flow into a casting frame 3, its overflowing and the waste of the material are prevented, and further, the defect in a product from the losing of the balance in the solidifying velocity caused by the increase of a feeding part can be prevented.
