To provide a molten metal leaking-out detecting method for minimizing damage by leaking-out of molten metal by early detecting the leaking-out of the molten metal of a canister.
A high frequency melting furnace heats and melts a processing object such as incineration ash of radioactive waste inputted in the canister 1 by liftably arranging the canister 1 for housing the molten metal by a lift (unillustrated) in a cylindrical furnace body 2 composed of a refractory, and arranging an induction heating coil 3 on the outer periphery of the cylindrical furnace body 2, and determines the existence of the leaking-out of the molten metal by arranging a temperature sensor 5a on an inner wall of a refractory wall member 5 for forming a leaking-out molten metal storage part 7 for flowing down and storing the leaking-out molten metal when the molten metal leaks out of the canister 1 for some reason.
