PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide molting inducing mixed feed which suppresses occurrence of dead hens, prevents deterioration of eggshell quality after reopening laying, decreases waste egg after completion of molting induction and is usable at a poultry yard, and to provide an appropriate method for feeding the mixed feed.
SOLUTION: The molting inducing mixed feed for laying hens has chaff and bran as the main material. The feed is adjusted to have bulk density of 0.40-0.56 kg/L and ≥40% of parts of 1mm or above in particle size distribution. The feed has ≥3.5 wt.% of calcium and is finished in metabolizable energy of 1,900-2,400 kcal/kg. The method for feeding the feed comprises giving feed set with metabolizable energy as low as possible, in a first stage of molting induction so as to smoothly stop laying, and giving feed set with metabolizable energy a little higher than the first stage, in a later stage so as to suppress death. A method for inducing molting comprises setting a lighting time in a hen house to 24 h/day for 3-7 days in 7-10 days before starting molting induction and to 16 h/day or below in 3-5 days before starting molting induction, and raising laying hens, and then using the two-stage feeding method.
