To provide a monitoring device and a monitoring method of a vehicular battery capable of certainly preventing the vehicular battery from going dead due to abnormal electric discharge of electric equipment when an abnormal condition is detected, while suppressing power consumption of a monitoring ECU monitoring the vehicular battery.
The monitoring ECU 10 measures a dark current value of the vehicular battery 40 in a sleep state of the electric equipment 50A to 50 C of a vehicle, and determines whether an abnormal condition is detected or not. If the abnormal condition is detected, power supply intercepting processing is executed. Therefore, it is not necessary to monitor a dark current all the time, so that power consumption by the monitoring ECU10 can be suppressed, and the battery 40 can be certainly prevented from running out.
