Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a highly accurate motor current detector for motor power steering with low cost.
CONSTITUTION: A shunt resistor Rs for detecting motor current is connected in series with H bridge circuit 47 in a control circuit 40 for an assist motor 10 in motor power steering unit. Currents flowing through the motor, respectively, when a PWM signal is ON and OFF are detected based on the voltage across the shunt resistor Rs. Since only one shunt resistor is required, cost can be reduced and since the shunt resistor does not require adjustment, motor current can be detected easily with high accuracy.
