Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the occurrence of motor lock to prevent motor failure by comparing an actual motor current with an estimate current and stopping the drive of a direct current motor when the actual motor current is higher.
SOLUTION: A motor drive controller 6 of continuously variable transmission is provided with a control means 98 to adjust the position of a driving side movable pulley part 18 and the position of the pulley is adjusted by driving a direct current motor 68 by means of duty control. Motor lock state is distinguished by the control means 98 in such a way that direct current motor current Im is found to be larger than Im trigger curve for distinguishing motor lock after preparing the Im trigger curve for distinguishing motor lock corresponding to each drive duty value Dm, taking consideration of the fact that the direct current motor current Im depends on the drive duty value Dm of the direct motor 68 at the time of motor lock. The control means 98 can, therefore, stop the driving of the direct current motor 98 when the actual motor current becomes larger than the estimated motor current and prevent the direct current motor 68 from burnout.
