To provide a simple, compact and inexpensive motor drive controller for accurately detecting a phase current and surely controlling the phase current even if a PWM duty value approaches 100%, and a controller in an electric power steering apparatus using it.
The motor drive controller for inputting a three-phase current instruction value to a PWM control section, applying the duty value from the PWM control section to a three-phase inverter comprising a plurality of drive elements and PWM-driving a three-phase motor is provided with a selecting section for selecting the minimum current instruction value among the three-phase current instruction values, and a subtracting section for subtracting the minimum current instruction value selected in the selecting section from the three-phase current instruction value, and inputs the three-phase current instruction value subtracted in the subtracting section to the PWM controlling section. The motor drive controller is used for the electric power steering apparatus.
