Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven power steering device having a means to adjust the backlash between gears in a gear box.
SOLUTION: A motor-driven power steering device 10 comprises an input member 12 fed with a steering torque, a rotatable output member 34 to rotate car wheel 44 capable of being steered, and a motor 102 to exert a drive force to rotate the output member as a function of the steering torque. The motor includes a shaft 100 having a rotational axis 104. A first 54 and a second meshing gear 56 transmit the drive force of the motor to the output member, wherein the first gear is rotatable together with the output member while the second gear rotatable together with the motor shaft. Adjusting mechanisms 86 and 122 adjust the backlash between the first and second gears and include mounting means 70 and 108 for mounting the motor and the second gear adjustably relative to the first gear. The mounting means include eccentric surfaces 80 and 120 for dislocating the motor shaft and the rotational axis of the second gear with respect to the first gear.
