Title:
MOUNTING STRUCTURE FOR IGNITION PLUG
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003278630
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a mounting structure for an ignition plug allowing easy setting of an arrangement/position of an earth electrode of the ignition plug within a combustion chamber and stable fixing of the ignition plug to the cylinder head with excellent airtightness between the ignition plug and the cylinder head.

The arrangement/position of the earth electrode 21 at the inside of the combustion chamber 55 in the direction of turbulence of air-fuel mixture can be easily set to a specified position since a screw groove is not provided in the ignition plug 11 according to the mounting structure for the ignition plug of this embodiment. Even when the interval between a plug seat surface 23a of a collar part 23 of a main body metal fitting 19 and a stepped surface 51b (sealing surface 51b) of the cylinder head 51 is fluctuated due to combustion pressure and vibration of an internal combustion engine, etc., by using a gasket 71 elastically deforming in addition to plastic deformation since the gasket 71 is compressed in an axis line direction, generation of a gap can be suppressed between the plug seat surface 23a of the main body metal fitting 19 and the stepped surface 51b (sealing surface 51b) of the cylinder head 51.
