PURPOSE: To attain YC separation with less deterioration in the resolution even in a moving picture by detecting correlation between frames locally and selecting three kinds of inter-3-field YC separation filters or four kinds of inter-3-field YC separation filters adaptively.
CONSTITUTION: An inter-3-field YC separation circuit 50 is provided, Which detects the correlation between frames locally when a moving detection circuit 80 detects a moving picture, applies processing adaptively plural inter-field processing including the calculation among three fields depending on the result of detection and outputs inter-3-field YC separation Y signal and inter-3-field YC separation C signal. That is, when a moving detection circuit 30 discriminates a picture to be a moving picture, the inter-frame correlation is detected and the inter-3-field YC separation Y signal and inter-3-field YC separa tion C signal are outputted by selecting any of three kinds of inter-3-field YC separation circuits 50 depending on the quantity of the correlation. Thus, the resolution is high even in the moving picture and the deterioration in the picture quality is reduced.
