Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary hearth furnace requiring no facility for a carbonization treatment and a reduced iron manufacturing method.SOLUTION: A reduction furnace 1 comprises a furnace body 2 and a movable hearth section 3. The furnace body 2 has a reduction zone Z1 which is arranged above the hearth section 3 to produce reduced iron by reducing iron oxide and a carbonization zone Z2 which is arranged at an upstream side of the reduction zone Z1 to carbonize coal placed on the hearth section 3. The reduction zone Z1 has a raw material supply section 4, a raw material heating section 20 and a reduced iron extraction section 5. The carbonization zone Z2 has a coal supply section 6 to supply the coal to an upper surface of the hearth section 3, a coal heating section 21 to carbonize the coal by heating the same and a coal extraction section 7 which is arranged at a downstream side of the coal supply section 6 in a moving direction of the hearth section 3 and extracts at least a portion of carbonized coal from the furnace body 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
