Abstract:

To reduce computational complexity and an increase in overhead of coded data as to a fade image, and to considerably improve the predictive efficiency.

In carrying out motion compensation predictive inter-frame decoding to a decoding object block in a decoding object frame of a moving picture by using a plurality of reference frames with a prescribed combination and a motion vector between the decoding object block and at least one reference frame, the moving picture decoding apparatus decodes coded data including respective information items such as a predictive error signal between a predicted block and the decoding object block, the reference frames, weighting factors expressed in a rational number using a denominator taking a value of 2's power set to each decoding object frame, a DC offset value and the motion vector, computes a linear sum by using the weighting factors as to a plurality of reference blocks extracted from the reference frames and adds the DC offset value to the linear sum to produce the predictive block and generates a reproduction moving picture signal by using the predictive error signal and a signal of the predictive block.
