Abstract:
To provide a MR fluid brake capable of providing braking torque by allowing magnetic flux to flow to a wider part in a MR fluid by devising a brake magnetic circuit.SOLUTION: In a MR fluid brake 100, a stator 10 and a rotor 20 include magnetic bodies, and MR fluid 30 is disposed between the stator 10 and the rotor 20. A first coil 40 and a second coil 50 generate magnetic field passing through the stator 10, the rotor 20 and the MR fluid 30. The first coil 40 and the second coil 50 are disposed at sides opposed to each other with respect to the rotor 20 in the axial direction. The first coil 40 and the second coil 50 are disposed so that an axial component on a winding center of the first coil 40, of the magnetic field generated by the first coil 40 and an axial component on a winding center of the second coil 50, of the magnetic field generated by the second coil 50 have the same direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
