Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light engine for a projection system.SOLUTION: The light engine comprises: a color wheel 30 having a plurality of color phosphor portions R, G, and B; at least two light sources B1 and B2 which illuminates the wheel 30 at different locations for generating at least two time-sequenced beams of red, green and blue light and from which output beams R1, G1, B1, R2, G2, and B2 are highly synchronized and exhibit substantially similar colorimetry, including spectrum and balance of red, green and blue light; and a digital micromirror device which modulates the time-sequenced beams of red, green and blue light to create an image.
