Abstract:

To reduce harmful exhaust gases, solve a problem in low temperature starting wherein a so-called "blue smoke" occurs in a so-called "warmup process" after the low temperature starting, improve performance, and increase fuel economy.

In this diesel engine with a variably actuated valve, end portions of two intake ports I related to cylinders are formed in different geometric shapes so that air sucked into the cylinders generates swirls of different levels. These two intake valves VI related to these ports I are controlled by different systems to control the entire levels of the "swirls" in the cylinders.
