Abstract:
To perform superior cylinder pressure control using a cylinder pressure sensor while reducing the number of installed cylinder pressure sensors in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine.
The multi-cylinder internal combustion engine 10 includes the cylinder pressure sensor 14 in a portion of a plurality of cylinders (six cylinders), and performs cylinder deactivation operation for deactivating at least one cylinder (a cylinder belonging to a second cylinder group 10b) that is not all of the cylinders. The cylinder pressure sensor 14 is included in at least one cylinder (cylinder #6) out of the cylinders operated during the cylinder deactivation operation.
