Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayered phase transition optical recording medium capable of simultaneously recording and reproducing multi-level information at a high speed.
SOLUTION: This optical recording medium has plural layers of phase transition optical recording layers (R) from a first layer to an N-th layer (N≥2). The arriving temp. of recording layers at the time of recording is defined as T, the m.p. of the recording layer as Tm, the crystallization temp. of the recording layer as Tx, the time required for cooling the recording layers from Tm to Tx at the time of cooling after radiation with recording light as τw and the crystallization time of the recording layers as τx. Then, two layers of arbitrary i layer and j layer selected from the plural layers of the recording layer simultaneously satisfy Ti>Tmi and τwi<τxi and satisfy at least either of Ti<Tmi or τwi>τxi with respect to the irradiation with specific recording light ray among a plurality of the recording light rays varying in the power levels to be used at the time of recording.
