To solve a problem that a time required to adapt to load variation in changing the number of operated units is long in a conventional multi-room type air conditioner.
This multi-room type air conditioner is composed of an outdoor fan rotational frequency setting means 14, a compressor operation frequency setting means 15, an operated indoor unit total capacity change detecting means 16 calculating the change of operated indoor unit total capacity and determining the increment, an outdoor fan rotational frequency correcting means 17 calculating a correction value of outdoor fan rotational frequency on the basis of the incremental change of the operated indoor unit total capacity, and setting the same, and a control device comprising a time counting means 18 counting a lapse of time from the change of operated indoor unit total capacity, and the indoor fan rotational frequency is corrected to be increased for a prescribed time when the load variation of the operated indoor unit total capacity in the increasing direction is found during a heating operation. When the number of operated indoor units is changed, the rotational frequency of the outdoor fan is corrected according to the operated indoor unit total change capacity, so that the variation of refrigerating cycle can be immediately reduced and the refrigerating cycle is controlled according to required load.
